There is a growing trend for cable for power transmission to lay buried underground as cities become more populated. Standard industrial pipe fixtures such as the trough, asbestos pipe, hume pipe, cast iron pipe, PVC pipes that are conventionally used for underground cable systems have the disadvantage of being unbendable and heavy. In addition, they are short in unit length, thus causing inconveniences in installation as many joints are required.
The EFLEX corrugated pipe, developed by Furukawa Electric, remedies all these issues. Spirally corrugated, it has several times the compression strength of standard plastic pipes. It is flexible, easy to handle, strong and economical. Used extensively in underground cable installations, EFLEX has now replaced ordinary pipes and is favorably received by users.
